It was always hard to swallow the nice sentiment of "everyone is a mother". Even though I knew it was true, it just didn't compare. And after 15+ miscarriages and 2 crazy, high maintenance boys, I can say: Miki- you are a mama. No. Not in the way I know you want to be. Not in the "carry in your womb" kind. I could tell you that you are a mom to the countless children you have nannied and watched and played with, but that's actually not where I'm going. You have been a mom... to me. You have helped me through my own sickness, through my own hurts. You helped me to remember not to take my children for granted (because I have, all moms do I think). You have helped me remember to laugh and love my kids a lot. Thank you for teaching me. Thanking you for truly being a mom by example and leading the way.
